Takumi Fujiwara

Takumi is the son of the owner of a local tofu shop. Takumi works part-time at a gas station with Itsuki, along with Iketani, who is a member of the local racing team, the Akina Speed Stars. At night, Fujiwara gets in his souped up AE86 Sprinter Trueno and races on the seldom-used Japanese mountain roads.

Bunta Fujiwara

Takumi's father, Bunta, was the fastest driver in there town even his Trueno was in fame because of him and he handed his Trueno to Takumi. Bunta is the owner of a tofu shop in Akina.

Itsuki Takeuchi

Takumi's bestfriend. He owns a Toyota AE85 levin.

Ryousuke Takahashi

The best racer in Inital D. He drives one of the oldest cars in Inital D, the FC3s/92 Mazda RX-7, and the leader of the Akagi Red Suns.

Natsuki Mogi

Takumi's good friend. She is attracted to Takumi but he doesnt realized it. She has a part-time job at Fast Burgers.

Kouichirou Iketani

Helps Takumi with his Trueno with mechanic stuff. Drives a Nissan Silvia S13.
