Inuyasha, A legendary half-dog demon seeks out the Shikon Jewel (A.K.A the jewel of four souls). The Jewel is able to grant awesome powers to whoever hones its strength. Inuyasha, hopping to use it to become a pureblooded demon, travels across the land and Steals the Jewel. However, before he can get away with the Jewel, a priestess called Kikyou shoots him with an enchanted arrow. Inuyasha is speared to that tree for many years, in a deep sleep from which he is never to awaken, that night Kikyou dies, and she demands that the Jewel be burned along with her body. Many years later a High School Student named Kagome wonders into her family's empty well while searching for her cat. She is then plunged into the past, 50 years after the fall of Inuyasha. She, still shaken after encountering an insect like demon on her travel through time, wonders into the forest of Inuyasha to find him, still bound to the same tree by the enchanted arrow, she attempts to pull it out but is stopped by local villagers. That night the insect creature comes after Kagome and so she runs into the forest of Inuyasha, her cry for help awakens Inuyasha, and his curse is broken. She takes the arrow out of his heart and Inuyasha quickly disposes of the Insect Demon. However, during the battle, the Shikon Jewel comes out of Kagome's heart, ensuring that she was a reincarnation of Kikyou. But before Inuyasha can steal the Jewel, an old Priestess puts a black beaded necklace around his neck, this necklace grants Kagome the power to order him around like a dog. The following day, Kagome tries to back through the well, but is kidnapped, and after a battle, a Crow Demon makes off with the Jewel, Inuyasha chases the crow while Kagome tries to hit it with an arrow, unfortunately, Kagome didn't inherit the master Archery skills of Kikyou. When she finally does hit the crow, she strikes the Jewel, which the crow had swallowed. The Jewel then breaks into many shards, and Kagome is left with one, the rest are launched in all directions and now with the help of Kagome, Inuyasha must retrieve all the shards.
