Vash has an interesting history throughout his life. Although that Vash looks human on the outside he is more advanced than any other human being on the inside. Vash also had a brother called Knives, the two of them were on a ship when they were young called Project Seeds. This ship was designed by a crew and what this crew wants is to create new life using a plant which they created called Gerenium. Vash and Knives were often visited by one of the crew members on the ship called Rem. Vash soon liked Rem and believed in what she said. However Knives did not become convinced by what Rem had been telling them. He believes that something has to die in order for it to live. Vash and Knives although they are brothers and looked alike the two had different personalities, Vash with a kind personality and Knives with a Sinister personality.
Knives soon with his sinister personality killed a man, until the only members left on the ship were himself, Vash and Rem. The ship however began to malfunction so Rem decided to take Vash and Knives and put them safely into a pod to save their lives. Rem stayed in the ship to try to fix the malfunction. Vash still remembers the last thing Rem said to her. Upon arrival to Earth Knives thought of humans as ignorant and wanted to wipe them all out. Vash now blames Knives for the death of the crew and Rem. The two lived together for some years, soon with two guns which Knives created one for himself and one for Vash. This is where Vash visited the city of July because he had found someone related to Rem. But before Vash could get there Knives was there and killed the relative. This is what caused Vash to destroy the city, he became outraged and tried to kill Knives, which is when Knives brought out Vash's angel arm and because Vash could not control it destroyed the entire city with only one blast from the angel arm. This is when Vash became known as the Humanoid Typhoon and Vash the Stampede. The bounty from this day was put on his head and he became the 60 billion double dollar man.
